Elizabeth Warren Proposes Bill Mandating Climate Risk Disclosure

On September 17, 2018, United States Senator Elizabeth Warren proposed the Climate Risk Disclosure Act of 2018, which would require all public companies to disclose information relating to climate-related risks. If passed, the bill would direct the SEC to issue rules within one year that would require public companies to make disclosures relating to their greenhouse gas emissions, the amount of fossil fuel-related assets owned and risk management strategies relating to climate change.
